Phnom Penh: Minister of Commerce, Ms. Cham Nimul expressed pride in the volume of Cambodia's trade at a time when the world is facing geopolitical and trade tensions, but Cambodia still maintains a high volume of exports.

Minister Cham Nimul, said at the opening ceremony of the Ministry of Commerce annual meeting on the morning of Thursday, December 21, 2023 that the volume of international trade in the first 11 months of 2023 reached 43.52 billion US dollars with exports amounted to 21 billion US dollars, an increase of 4.08% compared to the first 11 months of 2022.

She said that the increase in exports through the right policy of the Royal Government of Cambodia facilitates small and medium enterprises that maintain business processes, investments and keep jobs for workers and farmers.

She added that Cambodia's trade volume also depends on the RCEP to which Cambodia is a member, controls more than 61 percent of the total trade volume of more than 26.47 million US dollars.

According to the Minister, most of Cambodia's exports are garments, garments, clothing, footwear, bags, electronics and bicycles, while Cambodia's main markets are the United States, Canada, the European Union, ASEAN, Japan, China, South Korea, the United Kingdom and Australia.

For the direction to 2024, the Minister will continue to promote the business sector by strengthening the quality of human resources, deepening reforms and improving the quality of public services, stabilizing prices and boosting trade. Domestic work and the continuation of the construction and amendment of laws and regulations related to trade. She said that these measures will facilitate and create a favorable environment for business and investment, as well as strengthen the competitiveness of Cambodia's exports to international markets.
